All  Barefoot products are fully handmade. The yarn is hand dyed using premium Swiss colourfast and non -toxic dyes and then hand woven and fashioned into these iconic products.  As such no two pieces are the same and colours may vary from those illustrated.  They will last a lifetime. Barefoot was created in 1958 when a young artist and colourist, Barbara Sansoni, and The Good Shepherd Order recognised the need for a rehabilitiation program for young Sri Lanken women, who had little of no schooling or skills and had been placed in the care of the nuns.  Today Barefoot is a premier textile design company known for both  aesthetic designs and utility.    It is not a charitable organisation and workers receive and honest wage, as wll as acquring the joy that comes with obtaining the dignity and self respect of being able to support themselves and their children.  Creative designers are encouraged to be innovative wihilst loyal to the abstract geometry and bold colour core to the brand.
