Tradional Semenov Russian nested matryoshka or babushka doll.   12.5cm with  4 nested  dolls inside. Individually handpainted from turned timber so  each set is unique.  As a result there may be some slight variances from illustration.

This is a matryoshka or babushka doll.

The word "Matryoshka" comes from one of the most common names for women in Russia.  Provincial (village) Russians often called their ladies "Matryona" or  "Matryoshka".
